Hello, fellow creative souls! I'm Signe, and I want to share with you my colorful journey into the world of polymer clay jewelry. It's a tale of creativity, family, and the joy of making something beautiful with your own hands.
Back in 2008, I graduated as a visual arts teacher, but something was missing in my life – a personal creative outlet. Then one day, while scrolling through the latest news and trends, something caught my eye. A woman was crafting these stunning polymer clay models. It was a 'wow' moment for me! The vibrant colors and the sheer beauty of it left me fascinated.
Driven by curiosity, I dove headfirst into the world of polymer clay. During a lunch break at my telemarketing job, I bought my first block of polymer clay. There I was, simultaneously talking to clients and sneaking peeks at my newly acquired clay, absolutely smitten with this material.
I started researching what I could create and stumbled upon the millefiori technique. Soon, I was making polymer clay earrings in this style. I made so many that I ran out of space to keep them! That's when I decided to venture into selling my creations at the local fair in Dobele. I had just a 1-meter space and a self-assembled table, but it was enough to sell my first earrings.
As I continued to grow and develop new designs, I started participating in summer markets. My family got involved too. Before each fair, it was all hands on deck - they even joined me to help with sales. I loved the market experience, chatting with customers, and getting their feedback.
In 2019, I took a pause from earring-making as I welcomed my first child. Then in 2023, with the birth of my second child, I realized how much I missed my art. In the quiet evenings, when the kids were asleep, I found new inspiration online and reignited my passion for creating earrings. I experimented with new techniques in my spare moments.
Noticing how my earrings were slowly taking over our home, my husband decided to jump in. He took on the challenge of developing a website to reach people who appreciate unique, handcrafted earrings.
This journey has been about more than just making jewelry; it's about finding joy in creation, the support of family, and connecting with others who share a love for handmade art. I hope my story inspires you to find your own creative path. Remember, it's never too late to rediscover your passion and create something wonderful!
Stay colorful and creative,
Signe 🌈✨
